6 Days

You can really find anything on Pinterest. Usually I pin things about food or fashion or homes but I realized the other day that there are probably tons of Budapest images and links, so I went to town. Seeing all the pictures is only making me more excited..

What To Wear

How do people dress in Budapest..? As in, is the style metropolitan and fashion-forward or more simple and relaxed? I know it's the biggest city in Hungary, and of course the capital, and I've also been told it's similar to Prague.

Growing up in the SF Bay Area, I've always dressed with style in mind, and I've always loved fashion.. clothes.. vintage.. Luckily, San Francisco is full of great thrift shops and vintage clothing stores, so a lot of my wardrobe comes from those places. I probably frequent Forever 21 and H&M a bit too often though, and Zara is my kryptonite.

Anyways, I've been searching the web trying to find Hungarian and Budapest fashion blogs, and I've found a couple that seem to be pretty good. Both are street style [my favorite]!
Have a look:

I'm definitely going to be spending the next few days browsing through these sites.. Hopefully I can narrow down my wardrobe to a) look somewhat local, b) not die of heat in September and freeze in November/December, and c) be able to travel all over Europe to visit my friends and still have the right clothes.  Is that possible? Not really sure.

The Countdown

In a few weeks, I leave for Budapest. I fly out September 2nd.

I have no idea what to expect - I don't speak [or understand] Hungarian, I don't know much about Hungarian culture, and I've never lived in a country other than the United States. Not to say that I don't plan on learning about Budapest, and Hungary in general, of course, but right now, it all seems very foreign and far away.

But, I'm sure I'll be excited once I arrive, it's just the leaving part that's making me anxious. I've been looking forward to spending a semester abroad since before I applied to college, and it's weird that the time has finally come. It'll be a nice escape from America, from Bentley, and from routine. So.. all that really stands in my way is somehow packing my life into three suitcases..
